How we met
Not born but raised Houstonians, we have a lifetime apart and together built around familiar places: to name a few Mings Chinese Restaurant, MECA, Travis Elementary Dinosaur Bones, Bellaire High School, Cali Sandwich, the Bayou, Lacrosse Fields, Freaks Run Club, Franks Pizza, and Bad News Bar. However, this love story is one of a “thirst-trap” and a DM. I wont tell you the responsible party for either of those modern day romance catalysts. First date was Pizza, Cocktails, and Live Music… the rest is history.
The Proposal
We were visiting Zoe’s Parents in Italy at their house this summer. Elias’ dad was on a motorcycle journey to meet us with his uncle from Spain with parboiled rice and saffron safely tucked into their saddlebags.
We went for a hike and jumped into the icy Cervo River, one after another. Elias was waiting on the river bank on one knee when Zoe popped her head out of the water. Shocked in only the best way by both his sweet words and cold water, she said YES!
The engagement was celebrated over a delicious batch of legendary Fernandez Paella.
