Travel
Below you’ll find details about travel and hotel for the wedding.
This weekend will be centered around Villa Ansell, Zoe’s Parent’s House, in a hamlet on the outskirts of Campiglia Cervo in the heart of the Upper Cervo Valley; the small town, which also includes numerous hamlets. This magical region scattered with small villages is surrounded by the Italian Alps. The towns along the valley welcome visitors with colorful buildings and the audible roar of the waters of the Cervo stream, which can be crossed by small stone bridges and entered from the rocks along the shore. The parish church of St. Bernard and St. Joseph, which houses a large polyptych by Bernardino Lanino dating back to 1565, overlooks the main square, as does the old vocational school in construction, that trained skilled workers who labored all over the world to build bridges, roads and monuments. Villa Ansell, which used to be Villa Vanni was erected by a founding member of this school. Signore Vanni worked in the construction of bridges around Europe, as well as numerous engineering feats around the world.
Cervo Valley in Italian Valle Cervo or Valle di Andorno, in Piedmontese Val d'Andorn, in Walser German Bürsch is a valley in north-east of Piedmont in the Province of Biella, Italy.
Biella is a city and comune (municipality) in the northern Italian region of Piedmont, the capital of the province of the same name, with a population of 44,324 as of 31 December 2017. It is located about 80 kilometres (50 miles) northeast of Turin and at about the same distance west-northwest of Milan.
The Cervo stream rises from Lago della Vecchia, at 1,868 m altitude, and gives its name to the long and narrow valley that culminates with the typical village of Piedicavallo. This valley, fresh in summer, but extremely cold and snowy in winter, preserves ancient traditions, legends and esotericism, which envelop in mystery in particular the picturesque village of Rosazza. Going down to the valley, after collecting the waters of the Oropa stream, the bed of the river widens and laps the plateau of the Baraggia, before finally flowing into river Sesia, after a course of almost 65 km.

THINGS TO DO NEARBY
Explore the Valley Cervo and Dive in
There are lots of nearby towns that have amazing buildings, some of our favorites that are a quick hike or drive away.
Rosazza has some interesting spiritual lore about this town [if thats what you’re into]
One of our favorite things to do is take a dip in the Cervo water. You were warned its pretty dang cold, think Barton Springs plunge. There are plenty of entry points along the river to jump in, our favorite is near the nice spot for lunch or dinner Asmara located at frazione Asmara, 1, Campiglia Cervo 13812.
Explore Biella
Biella funicular is a funicular railway in the city of Biella that connects a lower station on Via Curiel, in the city's Biella Piano quarter, with an upper station on Via Avogadro in the city's medieval Biella Piazzo quarter.
The funicular first opened in December 1885, and was initially operated by water counterbalance. It was converted to electric operation in 1899, and was rebuilt, with new cars, in 1975.
The line has two cars, both with a capacity of 18 passengers, and operates continuously from 07:00 to 24:00, and later on Fridays and Saturdays.
MeBo or Menabrea Botalla Museum, is the result of a collaboration between two traditional industries of Biella: Menabrea and Botalla, which have joined forces to create an exhibition space that narrates the story and processes involved in the production of beer and cheese. There are two museums. The first, Casa Menabrea (Beer Museum), tells the story of the brewery's 170-year history through advertisements, posters, awards, books and photographs. The production process is illustrated by the ingredients used, the restored machinery dating from 1846, bottles, pitchers and mugs. The Cheese Museum, Casa Botalla, instead offers an immersion in the dairy tradition of the Biella Alps, illustrating the characteristics of the mountain pastures and native breeds of livestock, the vintage tools and the stages involved in the modern-day cheesemaking process.
Other main historical cites include:
Biella Cathedral
Biella Baptistery in Romanesque style (10th-11th century), annexed to the cathedral, housing 13th-century frescoes
Giardino Botanico di Oropa, a botanical garden
Sacro Monte and sanctuary of Oropa
Biella Synagogue
Renaissance church of San Sebastiano (1504)
Oasi Zegna, a natural preserve
This valley is a hikers dream. Just ask Elias and Zoe or Zoe’s parents. There is something here for all hiking levels. We will have maps and can help you find a wonderful day hike if that is something you are looking to do.
If bike is your forte, there are plenty of epic bike routes in and near the valley. There are plenty of bike shops in Biella, which I know would delight in renting you a set up and showing the best routes in the valley.
